Recently, my boyfriend Jake and I spent a weekend in Laguna Beach, at the Laguna Beach House and the Inn at LB. Luckily, both hotels were dog-friendly, so we were able to bring Brixton, my Aussie! This year has been quite crazy in terms of traveling and work, so it was nice to have a stay-cation in my home state with my two favorite boys.
Each morning, we walked along the beach. The first room we stayed in, at the Inn at LB, was right by the beach… so it made it easy for me to convince Jake to wake up early and walk down with me to the water. Brixton loved running around, and had a lot of other dog friends to say hi to on the walking path. We shopped in downtown and ate at some yummy restaurants. I ended up meeting a customer who was interested in purchasing a print from me (her name is Shelby and she works at the Nat Geo exhibit there), and was able to fulfill her order on the spot!
We also took some fun day excursions to the surrounding cities. We went down towards Dana Point to check the waves at Doheny, but didn’t find any unfortunately. I grew up in Orange County, so I’m very familiar with this area. However, Jake is from Philadelphia, so it was fun to show him a new part of California. I took him to one of my favorite spots - Hidden House coffee, and we spent hours in an antique warehouse nearby.
When we were staying at the Little Beach House, we loved staying by the pool and enjoyed a beautiful sunset from right outside our room. Both hotels even gave us cookies and milk at night! Talk about a night cap ;)
As this year comes to an end, I’m reminiscing on all of the great memories that were shared with loved ones in 2018. I’m very thankful for this Laguna weekend, as it gave us the time to regroup and refresh. It’s so important to take a break from the hustle from time to time, and remember what is most important.
